Great things are happening for Collette Cares and JWOC. Last year, we joined forces and launched the Collette Cares Nutrition and Hygiene Education Initiative for Cambodian Children. This project’s goal is to provide the tools for sustainable gardening to Cambodian people. It is exciting to know that because of this program families can now produce nutritious food on their own all year round. This not only generates household income, but it also decreases their food expenses.

This voluntary program teaches farming techniques, organic fertilizing and bug spray production in addition to providing seeds to the participants. The leaders of the program are available to offer support throughout the process as needed. In addition, the program engages the children at a young age through an outreach program that teaches them proper nutrition.

This initiative has positively impacted two villages (Thnout Chrum and Pong Teuk) around Siem Reap. An impressive 265 people have been directly and positively impacted by the 53 “Collette Home Gardens” that have been created in the villages. Overall, they were able to save money and eat well during this first gardening cycle. The recipients are currently replanting a second cycle on their own by using the techniques they learned and with the materials JWOC has provided them.

To learn more about the good things happening there, take a look at the video below. We are looking forward to all the good things to come in 2016 and beyond!
