Without wishing to pilfer words from a Beatles song, there are places I’ll remember, all my life, though some have changed.
The lyrics float through my head tonight as we stroll through Porto, a city that has really grown as a tourist destination since I was first here almost 20 years ago. I still recall that dark, balmy late-summer’s evening when I hopped off the airport bus with my backpack and became immediately entranced by the illuminated Torre dos Clerigos, a lofty 18th-century belltower by one of myriad Baroque churches in the historic centre of Portugal’s second city.
