The tour took us to the Badlands, Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Kevin Costner’s Tanaka, Deadwood, Cody, Heart Mountain Japanese-American resettlement camp, Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. I may have left something out, but it was a full tour and very interesting. We saw bison, elk, moose, antelope and a grizzly bear. I highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide, Traci, was very friendly and informative. The information in the brush regarding the tour was a little confusing. We got in there a day early, thinking that the tour started early the next day. There was only a meet and greet at 6 PM the next day so we could’ve come in on the same day. Also, it would’ve been nice to stay another day or two in Jackson hole. It was a fun town and a lot to do but such a little time to do it. Overall the sites and stops along the way , very interesting and memorable. Thank you.

Travelling as a single was tough due to the outrageously pricey singles penalty which was money I could have used on the trip. Many of the stops were too short. Due to a bus problem, one town only allowed time for lunch and we had to leave. We didn't get any time to even walk through the town never mind time to stop to see anything. The geography was stunning and helped alleviate some of the shortcomings. The tour guide Jacob was knowledgeable and provided some excellent extra information.

The entire trip was well organized, and well managed. The benefit of being on a tour like this you get to learn so much more than when you go on your own. Janice Love was our tour manager, and she was a wealth of knowledge that added to our experiences. Also, she had set up, other special speakers for us in multiple locations. My mom and I had a great time together and getting to know other people. If you are going for the purpose of seeing some of this beautiful country and learning more about it, it’s a great trip. If you are someone who is an adventurer and want to do hiking, rafting, and other like that, you would need to choose something else.

The tour itself was excellent, especially the tour manager amber, & the driver Steve. The problem was leading up to the trip out west. American Airlines decided to cancel our flight just hours before our flight, if it wasn’t for my wife, & other friends on our tour , we would have not made the trip when we supposed to, unfortunately we got no help from Collette’s emergency phone number after hours. They told us there was nothing they could do for us. They offered no help with airlines or anything, I was very disappointed with them, fortunes my wife & friends did manage to find us another flight, out of another airport& & managed to contact the transport service to get iu to the airport. Again this is stuff we felt Collette would handle, this no avail!

We had a rough start getting out and lost two days of the tour. It was due airline problems but I want to say that I found Collette to not be helpful at all. They also had an incorrect email address for me so our tour guide wasn’t able to be in touch nor was anything updated on their site because of this. Not happy with Collette at all. That said, the tour was great. We saw so much. Our tour guide and bus driver were wonderful together. They took us off the beaten path a few times also so we saw more towns than were originally scheduled. Buses were comfy and clean. I did not care for the hotel in Rapid City. Looks great online but pretty old and tiny bathrooms. Best hotel was in Jackson Hole but others along the way were clean and beds in all of the hotels were sooo comfortable. The company who picked us up to and from the airport were great. Their communication was terrific. The car was big and clean and the driver dressed professionally. This tour is offered thru other companies than Collette. When booking I felt good knowing Wheel of Fortune uses Collette for their prize trips but I was very disappointed in them. When we needed the help they said they’d give us when selling us on doing the whole trip thru them they left us on our own. Do this trip. It was great. But don’t book it thru Collette.

At the country dinner, the wagon ride was great and our two girl drivers were great. Dinner was good. Entertainment is what brought rating down. The main guy MC didn’t enunciate his words and was very hard to understand. They need to invest in a good sound system. Their system is antiquated and sound quality terrible. There were lots of older people on our trip and they wore hearing aids. They could not understand any of the lyrics being sung.

Not worth the cost! We paid $640 a day for both of us. The food was mediocre at best, the hotels were nice, hotels I would stay at while traveling but not for the cost of the trip. We could have stayed longer at spots that would have been more memorable then the every 2 hour bathroom break and shopping! The trip was a waste of money, we travel extensively and never spent this much money a day while on a road trip and I’m sure Collette pays less money for the hotels then we would.

You should not book people to fly into Lake City, UT on Sunday...nothing is open. Our hotel did serve until 1:30p. Also, it would have been better if when riding through Custer State Park to make at least 1 stop for photos. We just rode through the park only stopping at the visitor center upon arrival.

It was a good tour, not excellent. I was disappointed that the raft trip in Jackson Hole was no longer included in this tour. Instead, a visit to an art museum replaced it. That turned out to be mostly wasted time. Rafting seemed to be the thing to do at Jackson Hole in the summer months. That would have been an excellent western experience. The best and most enjoyable "cowboy" thing on the trip was the chuck wagon dinner in Jackson Hole where you ride to the dinner in a covered wagon. There was too much time in Jackson to just walk around the town and shop. We even arrived in Jackson by 1230 PM with nothing planned for that day except to walk around, eat lunch someplace and shop. One couple happened to find out there was a rodeo that evening. I would have been nice if our tour guide had told us about that. There should have been some optional activities to take in Jackson..The Collette brochure for this trip should be revised to eliminate the iconic photo of the red barn in front of the Grand Tetons. You will not see this location on this trip. That spot was apparently not far from where we were but the tour guide said it is not on our itinerary. Really enjoyed seeing Yellowstone. The scenery was beautiful, but animal sightings were disappointing unless you were on the "right" side of the bus. Our hotel in Yellowstone was just a short walk from Old Faithful allowing you to see it several times. However, the most photographed thermal feature, the Grand Prismatic Spring, was a short drive away, but our tour guide told us that was not on the agenda and that there was not room there for a bus to park. A satellite view of that feature shews at least 15 bus parking spaces. Deadwood, SD was a neat town with an excellent local guide. Not enough time there, especially when that is also your lunch stop. That happened at the Cody Museum and Crazy House site as well.

I think going over a long holiday weekend wasn't the best. We waited in one restaurant for dinner for a half hour and then the seating wasn't very good. I did have a good time. The driver was terrific and the scenery was fabulous. There were a few things I missed that I think could have been included. My favorite was the Chuck Wagon Dinner. It was the best!! The Cowboy Tour is an excellent choice. Although there are many spectacular Things to see. The White Water Scenic Raft Ride is a great experience. See the Spectacular scenery of the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone is overwhelming. Seeing "Old Faithful" in person after many years of reading and seeing other people's picture is breath taking. Riding across the state of Wyoming is truly amazing when you see the amount of open land. Going to Cody, WY and getting to see the building of the West through the center at Buffalo Bill Cody. Then we were off to Rapid City, SD and many more sites. Deadwood, SD where we got to see more history in Wild Bill Hickcock and to see where he was shot and the ride to MT Moriah Cemetery where Wild Bill and Clamity Jane were burred. It was amazing to see the sites and hear the history of this nation. More to see in the Bad Lands, and the other sites of Buffalo that were up close and personal. They cross the roads in front of cars and buses. You just have to sit tight and let them pass. In Rapid City there is a life side statue of a past president on each corner. Then you get to see MT. Rushmore with the Four Presidents in stone.

Rafting down the Snake River was definitely a highlight of the trip, as was getting within a few feet of the bison herd on our jeep ride. Seeing 10 bald eagles was a bonus. The scenery is just beautiful, no matter where you look. Enjoyed the entire trip and all of the places which were included. However, I would eliminate Crazy Horse, but leave everything else in. The hotels were very nice with the exception of the accommodations at Yellowstone. There was barely any light in the rooms and the soap was in containers fastened to the sink and the shower wall so they were not moveable and were hard to reach (you couldn't take a bath there). They did have a great breakfast and dinner. As a matter of fact, all of the meals were very good, including those at the two chuck wagon dinners and the entertainment on both these occasions was excellent. I do think this trip should be rated a 2 at least. It is a little more difficult than the 1 which the brochure stated. I did not have a problem, but my traveling companion did as did some of the other people on the trip. Overall it was great!
