Visit the Jim Thompson House and Museum. This architectural gem, hidden away on a quiet street in the city center, was once the home of the man who took the production of Thai silk onto the international stage before disappearing in Malaysia in 1967. The house features an impressive collection of Southeast Asian art, an open-air café surrounded by peaceful gardens, and a shop where you can purchase fine silk and household items.

Be captivated by a traditional water puppet show in Hanoi, with its incredible display of artistry and folklore. Long ago, these water puppet shows were performed in flooded rice patties, but today this tradition continues on in a modern theater. Lacquered wooden puppets seemingly skim and dance across the water as the instrumental sounds of traditional Vietnamese music plays. Puppets of people, animals, and even dragons splash across the stage, telling ancient tales of wonder and whimsy. After the magic of the water puppet show, enjoy dinner at a local Hanoi restaurant.
Siem Reap by Gondola
Day 12 | Siem Reap
$50.00 pp
Embark on a gondola ride to Angkor Thom, the former capital of the Khmer Empire known as the “Great City.” Your gondola is a traditional Khmer boat – a Cambodian vessel made of wood and decorated with regal designs. This relaxing ride will take you across the calm waters of the moat where you’ll pass by lush jungles and Angkor Thom’s imposing wall. Soak in the atmosphere and bask in the ancient beauty that surrounds you.
Phare: the Cambodian Circus
Day 14 | Siem Reap
$45.00 pp
More than just a circus, Phare is Siem Reap’s most unique and authentic evening entertainment. Phare performers use theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts to tell the story of Cambodia, from a modern and historical perspective. The young artists will astonish you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent.
Saigon after Dark by Vintage Vespa
Day 10 | Ho Chi Minh City

See how the traces of historical Saigon have become interwoven into modern life, with heritage shining through traditional flavors and recipes. Get a taste of the culture as you sample a variety of food and drinks, perusing the local restaurants for authentic flavors and Saigon favorites. You should consider making this part of your tour always! Halong Bay was wonderful. Another day out there would be Great! Cambodia was just right. JWOC was interesting, but it would have been nicer if we could have interacted wtih the children. Our extension in Bangkok was super interesting and our guide was wonderful! It was HOT though. My wife knew this tour would be long, and it was. Air flights averaged 15+ hours from NY to Hanoi, and from Bangkok to NY. At least we had Premium Economy on Cathay Pacific. Of course, this was more expensive, but more comfortable. We flew early, on January 1st, which shaved some of the cost of airfare.
Traffic in Hanoi was horrific. As a longtime New Yorker, I never thought it could be more congested, and Hanoi was indeed so. Surprisingly, we found a truly pleasant experience with a nighttime Vespa Tour, followed by a tasty visit to a wonderful chocolate shop.
Paddling a canoe in Hoo Long Bay was fun, but exhausting, especially for my wife. Fortunately, we were picked up by boat to take us back to our ship. This was a unique experience! And I learned abut Tai Chi!
In Cambodia, we learned about how Rats, yes rats are being trained to find abandoned mines that were left to maime by the CamerRouge. These African immigrants are truly heros, and petlike. I loved holding one of these heroes.
In Laos we learned about how locals eke out a livelihood by making hand goods like bracelets. Children are clothed in native garb, and the photos of them were special.
The comradarie we made with fellow passengers was excellent! Our TourGuide Huy Nguyen established a very friendly tone from the first time we met him to the end of our trip. He work tirelessly on our behalf, and this often meant not the normal amount of sleep for him.
If we had known how exhausting we would be at the end of our trip, we probably would not have booked the Thailand extension.

Really enjoyed the tour. Good selection and variety of experiences. Time sometimes compressed but that was to be expected on a type of this nature.
The optional scooter tour of Ho Ch Minh City was an absolute blast; ending with a chocolate stop was a great finale.
Our tour guide, Huy, was outstanding is all respects, but especially in his ability to manage successfully unanticipated challenges with interagency and grace, especially when he single handily “unstuck” completely gridlocked traffic just enough for our coach to snake through / between lanes of stopped vehicles when the traffic lights went out in all directions at a highway intersection. Otherwise we could have been stuck for hours. Any good tour guide can manage usual tour snafus and personalities; it takes a special guide to gracefully and competently handle exigent circumstances - all while keeping guests informed and calm. Many kudos.
On the “could improve” side, I strongly recommend that tips for local guides and drivers be covered bt Collette and adjusted in the overall price. It is challenging for travelers to have enough local currency (and in appropriate denominations), and hunting for foreign atms is a pain (and some were broken or ram out of bills).
Minor item: airport transfer drivers should have a Collette card/flag to make it easier for groggy travelers to spot their drivers upon first arrival (and driver tipping protocol info would have been nice).

I had a wonderful experience on this tour, seeing such a different part of the World. We were busy every day, and during our free time there were enough places around the hotels to walk around, with maps provided by the tour director. I especially loved seeing the Ancient Temples and the local markets. I really enjoyed the shows like the Water Puppets, and the Cambodian Circus. I also enjoyed the rides in different kinds of boats and on the Mekong River. The small tour size of 24 people was comfortable, and made it quite easy to travel around

i truly enjoyed the trip to all the destinations including the tour guide Dinh. he was well informed about the destinations we visit and made it exciting to learn about the cities and country. for the most part, the restaurants that we attended were great and the food was tasty. the only part i did not agree with the trip is that we flew into thailand only for a dinner cruise and departure. there weren’t any sites visited. i feel collette could’ve managed the trip better so that more days are spent in Thailand and not just half a day.

I found that the jungle walk in Laos which was described as an easy walk was incorrect. The trail was very rocky and was obstructed in some parts by fallen trees..
I also did not like that only beer was included for most meals. I feel that wine could have been added at a discounted cost.
Our tour manager was excellent. Tee was always informative and gave us great suggestions for where to eat I.e. when the meal was not included in the tour package.
Tee was also very informative re the Vietnamese culture. I feel I have a much better understanding of the history of Vietnam and today’s culture.
I would recommend Collette to my family and friends

Although overall tour was good the local rep in Vietnam was disappointing. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about his country but was immature and arrogant. On three separate occasions people were lost or left behind because he didn’t bother to check everyone was with him before leaving for the next venue, The local guides in Cambodia and Laos were excellent.

We enjoyed all the countries. My favorite was Laos. I think it was because of the quaintness and interactions with the monks. The local guide was excellent. There were special parts of each country that we enjoyed. Mekong Delta in Vietnam, also the ethnology museum in Hanoi (added due to Ho Chi Minn mausoleum was closed). This was so awesome! It would have been even better if there were a few more days and we could have gone North. We should have added more days and gone there on our own.

It's difficult to choose a favourite memory. The cooking class in Hoi An was fantastic. The floating village in Laos, with the many forms of transportation to get there and back are my favourite memory. I would have loved to have been able to spend more time at the temples in Cambodia
FYI. The label for the photo attachment is over the title of the first category. I don't know what I'm rating, so I just randomly put good.

Great cultural learning experience. The planned meals that were part of the package were at very nice restaurants and the quality of food was excellent. We really enjoyed the river and lake cruises, as well as our overnight trip in Halong Bay. Meeting people and creating friendships with fellow tourists is important. Our local guides' knowledge and friendliness added a nice personal quality to every place we toured. Interacting with the locals is always special and gives that personal touch to the overall experience. Wonderful tour. Would highly recommend this trip to others.

We were very pleased indeed with the tour and would particularly like to praise the Tour Manager Maryse Blouin. Maryse worked tirelessly to ensure that the journey went smoothly and as well as being super-efficient, she always greeted everyone with a wonderfully happy and positive demeanour. To make some constructive criticism, we would have preferred the tipping structure to have been collected as a lump sum at the start of the holiday, instead of constantly having to donate amounts. The pace of the holiday was quite strenuous but I would say that it was entirely appropriate and allowed us to gain the maximum benefit from our time in Indochina.

Felt that from the time we landed, our trip was very well organized. I like having an American tour guide who works with local guides. We had the best of both worlds. Many great experiences - enjoyed tour of local market in Vietnam and time with elephants in Laos. Collette had cancelled the elephant trip because of PETA concerns. I have never seen elephants so well cared for! It is actually a preserve that rescues them.

There were many highlights but the Halong Bay cruise was probably number one. It would have been good to include a visit to the Cu Chi tunnels, perhaps instead of the War Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.
