After almost two years of a lot of staycations and time to think about where to go next, 2022 is going to be a huge rebound year for travel. We are seeing a lot of bookings for 2022 and beyond as travelers are itching to get back on the road, and we are right there with you! We have learned a lot about what travelers are looking for with our return to travel and want to share some trends we are seeing for next year both at Collette and throughout the industry at large.
Deep Dives into America
In the face of unprecedented travel restrictions, American travelers really reveled in the opportunity to experience what lies in their own backyards in 2021, and that is continuing into next year, too!
Expedia just released their 2022 Travel Trends report, in which they utilized their own data and partnered up with a research firm. According to that report, 59 percent of Americans are planning a domestic trip in the next year. More than just getting out somewhere, though, these travelers are searching for a truly enriching experience, which Expedia referred to in their report as the GOAT mindset, or Greatest Of All Trips. What that means varies from traveler-to-traveler, but here are some really interesting numbers from that report:
· 40% of polled travelers said that in 2022, they want a unique culinary experience on their next trip
· 23% are looking for off-the-beaten-path experiences
· 32% are looking to cross a bucket list destination off their lists
