South America holds a special place in our hearts, and if you ever travel there, you'll quickly realize why. The people always seem to radiate such joy, the food is wonderful and it's filled with warm, welcoming cultures and gorgeous scenery. 11 years ago, we set out to give globally with the launch of the Collette Foundation, and unsurprisingly, we began this work in South America. In Peru, in fact.
The Hogar de Mercedes de Jesus Molina Orphanage, just outside of Cuzco, Peru, helps disadvantaged children in the area and houses and educates 11 girls. The Hogar also runs a successful lunch program for the children in the surrounding community. They feed a nutritious hot lunch to nearly ninety children each day, and with Collette's help have built a new dining room and shower facility at the orphanage.
In Costa Rica, we partner with the Cepia Foundation on a program to eliminate malnourishment in the children of Guanacaste. Cepia acts as a safe haven, a community center, and a kitchen for those children in need, allowing them to not only be healthier but to participate in the community. It's clear from research that simply being better fed as a child will set you up for success as an adult, and these children deserve every opportunity to thrive and grow. We'll continue to work together with Cepia to give the children the greatest opportunities for their future, and improve their quality of life.
In Ecuador's capital city of Quito, we support Children International's nutritional rehabilitation programs that target undernourished children, giving them a chance at a healthy, hopeful future.
Feeding disadvantaged children is a way we can directly give back to destinations that have shown us so much beauty over so many years. These children are truly the future, and we'll continue to support world hunger solutions. For more information on how Collette is giving back around the globe, visit Collette.com/responsibility
