We really enjoyed our trip to Iceland. It was well organized and we saw many amazing sights. We were fortunate to have good weather and to see Northern Lights 4 nights in a row! We were glad to have the northern part of the country included in this trip - the whale watching excursion out of Husavik was fantastic!! The included meals were always very good. We really liked that all the activities were included rather than paying separately for additional side trips or excursions. Just one other comment - this is our first trip through Collette and day 1 of the 10 days was leaving the US in the evening for the overnight flight. On our previous trips, day 1 started after the overnight flight, when we arrived in our destination country early in the morning.

We were so impressed, a perfect way to see Iceland! Collette had chosen wonderful must-see's, plus moments with locals that took our travels to a much deeper level. They managed everything and gave us all the information we needed down to the littlest detail, making for a stress-free and amazing trip! Iceland was incredible too! It sounds silly, but my favorite memorable experience was the goat farm. Seeing the goats herded down the road by the sheep dogs, hearing the story of how they saved the purebred Icelandic goat, and having lunch in the farmer's home, it was all pretty special! I also loved all of Iceland's amazing waterfalls and geothermal baths! A spectacular trip!!

I feel that this tour did not meet the Collete standard that I am familiar with from my previous 2 tours. I have come to expect 4 and 5 star hotels from my previous tours. The hotels we stayed at were only 2 or 3 stars. The Tour Manager took us around to look at lava rock which can be found in many parts of the world. I feel this was a waste of my travel dollars and time when we could of be touring a hydroelectric plant. We were taken to several water falls that were less than impressive considering our group was from the USA & Canada were we have Niagra Falls. Our time would of been better spent going to a Northern Lights Museum and learning about the Northern Lights. We were taken on tours of a Goat and Sheep/horse farms. When I arrived back in the USA as the passport control officer asked me if I had been to any farms in Iceland. I felt as though I had to lie to avoid extensive interrogation and inspection of my luggage. I know this from previous experience at passport control. Therefore, please do not take USA citizens to places where they have to lie to get back into the USA. I would not recommend this trip to my friends.

We enjoyed Iceland so much, especially seeing humpback whales up close, the trip to Joanna’s goat farm and hiking into a glacier. The smaller tour group and excellent tour manager made the experience so memorable. Highly recommended.

If you are not an experienced traveler, this is a good trip for you. There is a lot of hand-holding and not very much free time. They do pack a lot of sites and experiences into the itinerary but little time to do things on your own. Meals and meal choices were my least enjoyed experiences as lunches while traveling were often gas station pit stops and group dinners had very limited selections — basically fish or lamb at every dinner. The Glacier walk and natural scenery (waterfalls, geysers, hot springs) were the most memorable experiences on this trip.

"Meal Provided" situation needs to be revisited. If I am spending the night at a hotel where there are no other restaurant options but the hotel restaurant, then that meal MUST be provided. Think about it....

Highlights are the sights: spectacular waterfalls, geysers, landscapes, volcanic formations, hot springs, etc. Could have done with 1 hot spring visit instead of 2 (minor point).

I loved the tomato hothouse because I grow about 150 varieties of tomatoes and have around 700 plants ( down scaled from around a thousand because of knee surgery) the waterfalls were beautiful and the volcanic features were similar to the area I live in ( basalt columns and poor soil)

This trip provided a good overview of the country. We wre handled by very competent and helpful people. The hotels were either above excpectations, or in one case WAY above expectations.

The guide basically read from a book on a tour bus. This was supposed to have been an adventure rated as Hiking and a lot of walking. When I inquired about the tour, I specifically asked if this was an active adventure and I was told it was one of the Exploration tours.

Good pace for us as a mobile couple in late sixties, loved the walks, whether city or rough country. Enjoyed the cultural and museum stops (turf houses, whaling, a working wool factory). Felt like we accomplished a real goal with the lava cave, and glacier trip! The horse show was charming, and thoroughly enjoyed a chat afterwards with the young equestrians! And what a surprise to slip into not one but two delightful spas, at Myvatn Nature Baths and the Blue Lagoon. Heavenly! The whole trip gave us happy surprises!

The best was the whale watching on the Zodiac boats. But a close second would be the glacier hike, lava cave tour, Blue Lagoon, the Golden Circle and Diamond Circle.

Iceland is truly a strange and beautiful country. We saw meadows full of wildflowers, sheep, and Icelandic horses. We saw geysers bursting into the sky, the ground literally boiling, climbed down into a lava tunnel, and began seeing trolls in the magical lava fields. Throw in a few whales, turf houses, geothermal soaks, and magnificent waterfalls - what more could you want? Perhaps an elf that would make the trip longer?
